Regulations of the UNWTO were adopted on this day in 1970. The organisation is playing a significant role in promoting tourism across the world.


Hence its formation is considered to be a major milestone in tourism.


Tourism plays an important role in India's economy as well as in its culture which always advocates ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’.


On the occasion, Union Minister of Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari also extended his wishes on World Tourism Day on Twitter.
